At long last I’ve just completed Vol. 3, CD 4. It took a while however it was fun and I enjoyed every moment. I’m now looking forward to the next section to do with the study of chords.
Hey Newton, CONGRATULATIONS. That is music to my ears. You’ve reached this level in just a few months; good job on your focus. Welcome to the real world of Playing By Ear and Playing Any Song In Any Key with EASE. You’re going to love Volume 4 because you’ll be able to understand and do all of those advanced things in music with ease.
On another note, my claim is that 100% of the people who complete Volumes 1, 2 and 3 are able to Play By Ear and in Any Key. Seeing that you have completed those Volumes, can you let me and others who are reading this know if that claim is true? (You can respond to this comment)

Hi Robert,
Completed Volume 3 CD 4 on March 23rd, my birthday. There is so much information here that can be applied to all music styles. Using the numbers, for example: 2-1-1-3-#4-#5-6-7-8-7-6-6…, the beginning part of ‘Yesterday’, makes it so easy to play the song in all 12 keys. You also discover that most composers like using notes in the order of the scale, 6-7-8, or 6-6-5-4-3-2, etc., versus interval jumps. So, those basic songs you taught us are not as basic as one might think. I can’t think of the songs I discovered that used 1-2-3, 3-2-1 ,etc., but it’s more than ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’. It would be great if all students shared a song or two (Just the numbers) they figured out. You recommended we do this before completing Volume 3. It was a lot of fun doing that, but doing so, and playing the numbers in all 12 keys did add to how long it took to complete the Volume :-). Thanks, Mike

.. Thanks Mike, I think I’m going to but that challenge out there. To ALL AKMS Members who have COMPLETED VOLUMES 1, 2 and 3, I challenge you to figure out the melody of a song and write out the numbers and post what you did along with the YouTube link of the actual song.
… And then do it in all keys of course.

Let’s go! Just finished The final CD before CHORDS! I was practicing minor chords since an earlier CD when you mentioned it, so i was all prepped for the end of this CD! Felt great. Just gotta Dial in the Minor3 b5’s perfect. (Gonna practice them daily!)
